You might be thinking, "What's wrong with Feña? Why is he congratulating me? What did I miss?"
Let me explain.
There are celebrations for everything. So why not celebrate Improvisers Day?
I remember brainstorming with other people in the impro world about when we should celebrate our day, but we couldn't decide which date to use.
Until...
On October 14, 2012 , Austrian base jumperFelix Baumgartner had the idea of rising into the stratosphere in a helium balloon and jumping back to Earth, falling at 1,400 km/h. Done.
That was all I needed.
An image. A representation. A symbol.
Celebrate the leap into the void .
Does that make sense? Well, it did to me. So I pitched the proposal to the virtual world, and guess what happened?
There were people who loved the analogy... and others who hated it. "Are we astronauts?" they said.
But I didn't give them any importance. There was no other clear proposal, and I chose to stick with it. I chose this day to celebrate, to congratulate my colleagues, to recognize our work.
Since then, I celebrate Improvisers Day every October 14th. And the best part is that, after all these years, I see people I don't know shout out to others or share posts about it. The idea transcends the person who proposes it.
So, if you want to join the celebration, welcome!
Let's celebrate!
